FALL ALBUMS!

Welcome back to “Sophia Talks About Whatever She Wants Because This Is Her Blog”. I’m glad that you’re here. It’s been getting consistently cold in Nashville. I know that it’s December, but winter doesn't start for another few weeks so who cares. I'm going to milk out fall as much as I can. Today, I'm sharing 10 albums that I've categorized as autumnal.

After Hours – The Weeknd (2020)

I remember listening to this album a few times when it was first released but then I let it pass by me. I’ve been reaching for this record all season, and I forgot how many bangers there are. I don’t know how to explain it but the ambience of this album is just very fall to me.

GO:OD AM – Mac Miller (2015)

This album is balanced perfectly between hype and chill songs, and it all flows together so well. This record is just beautiful and I’ve found myself listening to it a lot the past few months.

Jar Of Flies – Alice in Chains (1994)

I prefer Jar of Flies to Dirt, but I think the latter gets more recognition. Jar Of Flies is much moodier, which I love. ("Nutshell" is a perfect song. If you listen to anything on this album, let it be "Nutshell").

Rubber Soul – The Beatles (1965)

When it comes to The Beatles, I really prefer their music from the early 60s over the latter half of the decade. This album has a kind of eerie folk sound that qualifies it to be a fall album in my mind. One of my favorite Beatles songs is on this record (if you know it I'll give you a big fat kiss on the cheek).

So Tonight That I Might See – Mazzy Star (1993)

When you listen to an alternative artist like Mazzy Star, you have to be prepared to experiment. This album feels like a very psychedelic experience, but it's become a fall classic for me. I think that the opening track, "Fade Into You", doesn't accurately represent the album; it's much better than the rest of it. Regardless, I do enjoy this record during autumn.

Dirt – Alice in Chains (1992)

Dirt better represents Alice in Chains because of its level of intensity. Upon first listen you can just hear how much harder it is than Jar Of Flies. More bangers came off of this album, thus it's more recognizable. It's an amazing compilation of energy and will definitely help you let out anger.

Stranger in the Alps – Phoebe Bridgers (2017)

Maybe it’s just that really sad music reminds me of fall because it feeds into the emotional changes that come with the colder seasons. The storytelling on this record is amazing. How does she do it?

Led Zeppelin II – Led Zeppelin (1969)

"The Lemon Song" is a masterpiece. I've been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin II and IV this season. Highly recommend if you want to be transported to the early 70s.

evermore – Taylor Swift (2020)

I feel like this is self explanatory. Look at the album cover and tell me that this isn't fall. The songwriting on both this and folklore is incredible. This album is just so delicate and beautiful and it means so much to me.

Hozier – Hozier (2014)

"Take Me to Church" has almost 2 billion streams on Spotify. That's all you need to know about the quality of this album. Though it's a cold and dark album, it's very comforting for when it gets cold and dark.

Make sure to check out the rest of my Spotify to see what kind of music I love, and where this blog will go.

Also check out my "yellow tinted life", where you can find a compilation of these albums and a few others that I find myself repeating all season long!

(I also have a few more fall playlists for different moods if you're interested. Listen to 'mental flu', 'hold me through', and 'A bitter cleanse' here for vibes).

Thank you for reading! I hope that you enjoyed this but if you didn’t, that’s okay too. If you’d like a deeper dive into any of these albums, let me know and I’d be happy to deliver!

LOVE YOU ALL SEE YOU NEXT TIME XOXO
